Say what you will about Tumblr but it’s rather punk that capitalism has no power here. That we cannot be turned into products and are free to roam the tundra and scream into the woods about whatever like some primal beings.

my cat hates taking his pills. the only way we can get him to eat them is to turn it into an elaborate pantomime - we take the packet out of the cupboard slowly and hold it up, saying “oh!! what’s this? what’s this? a TREAT? a TREAT for louis????” while making surprised faces. we offer him a pill… then, before he has a chance to sniff it, we wag our fingers at him and replace it in the packet so it becomes a Tantalising Forbidden Mystery. we continue doing this until he’s so confused and excited that he will eat the pill as fast as possible, just so he can find out what it is before we can take it away from him again. as soon as he’s eaten it he looks utterly disappointed and betrayed, like a child who just ate a delicious sweet only to find it was a chocolate-coated brussels sprout. it never gets old

Op this is the funniest thing I’ve ever read

Sometimes I go to myself “you know, I don’t understand what NFTs are” and then I go look it up again and discover, yes, actually I do know what NFTs are. It’s just that every time I read about them again I’m left going “this CAN’T be it, there has to be something else to make this make sense” and the answer is always no.

Liam says on Behind the Sheets that he relates to Frodo the most out of everyone in LotR (around 52min40s) and that explains so much about his preference in characters and storytelling. Because there is so much of Frodo in Vax, Caleb and Orym too.

Especially movie!Frodo is very under appreciated. I’ve heard a lot of people say that ‘Sam is the real hero’ or something similar. But Frodo is the hero not because he is the smartest or the wisest, but because he had the thankless, undignified task of walking into Mordor. The fact that he even made it, that he just continued onwards and onwards speaks of his enormous strenght and bravery

I think that this quiet strenght and loyalty are present in Liam’s characters as well.

The resemblance between Frodo and Orym is maybe the easiest to see, at least appearance wise. Orym, like Frodo, is a little hafling from the Shire/Zephra, who’s peaceful life has been disrupted. Both are on a quest given by an older and wiser mentor (Keyleth/Gandalf), and both Orym and Frodo function as the 'every day man’ in a fantastical setting. It makes it real. (But both Orym and Frodo are called boring)

Next, Caleb and Frodo have in common that they are both trying to resist the allure of power, and both have to deal with the consequences of someone far more powerful than them abusing that power. Both Frodo and Caleb ultimately succeed because of their friendship with others, but both are irreversibly damaged by what happened to them. A central theme in both their stories is “how much suffering can a normal person deal with before they either succumb to the same evil or be destroyed?” And how much of them is left afterwards?

Finally, out of the three, Vax and Frodo seem the most different. But both Vax and Frodo take up the mantle of trying to protect their loved ones and the world 'even though they do not know the way’ and feel inadiquate. Vax willingly leaving at the end of C1 is very reminiscent of Frodo leaving for the undying lands, and Frodo’s sincerity in wanting to help is very similar to Vax’s sincerity and loyalty in being the champion of the Raven Queen once he gets over his first hesitance.

Frodo is a controversial character, and so are Liam’s PC’s. A lot of people like them, a lot of people hate them. But I love that these are the characters and themes that are explored in a standard 'hero’ setting such as DnD. There are many answers to the question 'what makes a hero’ and I love that Liam explores this version of them.

the whole “i’m an evil monster because i have to kill and eat innocent people to survive :’(” angst in ‘regular human gets turned into supernatural monster’ stories is so stupid. like how is that even a problem??? there are also plenty of corrupt billionaires, abusers and cops out there for you to snack on

everybody’s like “eating the rich is the only ethical consumption under capitalism” until they actually have the opportunity to actually eat the rich 🙄 smh

I just saw someone accuse a lesbian author of queerbaiting for her book series that’s chock full of canonically queer characters just because no one ever kisses or explicitly says they want to kiss anyone of the same gender in the first book, So here’s a reminder that not all queer media has to be romance, queer characters can still be good representation if they’re single, and it is literally impossible for a piece of media to queerbait with canonically queer characters.

Same feel as when everyone was saying the Half of It wasn’t really a queer movie, because there was no really explicit romance or coming out scenes even though the screenwriter is a lesbian and in part wrote the movie from her own lived experiences
